Why are log archways so common in this valley?
They suit the setting and the material is local. A log or heavy timber entrance reads as belonging here in a way a manufactured gate does not, and the scale of the valley supports a substantial structure without it looking overbuilt.
Can you build when the ground is frozen?
Some of it. Jackleg fence goes up nearly year-round because nothing penetrates the ground, and shop fabrication and demolition on frozen ground both work well in winter. Set posts, earthwork, and concrete wait for conditions.
Our road washes out most springs. Is that fixable?
Usually, and the fix is generally drainage rather than more gravel. Recurring failures in the same spots point to base or water problems that grading alone will not solve. We walk the road, read where the water goes, and give you a level-by-level assessment.
